The 4th Baltic Earth Conference have taken place in Jastarnia, Hel Peninsula, Poland (30th May 2022 – 03rd June 2022).
The Baltic Earth Conferences are periodic organized international meetings devoted to the functioning of the environment in the Baltic Sea region.
The organizer of the conference was International Baltic Earth Secretariat at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) and the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot (IO PAN), with significant participation of the Polish Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research, which has been supporting the Baltic Earth activity for many years.
Established in 2008, European Maritime Day (EMD) is the EU's annual meeting point for maritime affairs and sustainable blue growth, and the slogan is where "ocean leaders" meet. It is also a public event targeting young people and citizens across Europe through local EMD in my country events. Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences - represented by our colleagues from the Climate and Ocean Research and Education Laboratory, actively participated in discussion panels and workshops.
The national competition 'Feminine Image of the Sea' is addressed to women, students and graduates of art universities (Academy of Fine Arts and Universities) and faculties with artistic profiles of other universities in Poland, as well as professional artists dealing with art professionally.
The competition aims to raise maritime awareness and promote it through art. We want to present the female point of view of maritime issues, both from the scientific and artistic side. Selected competition works will create an exhibition at the conference inaugurating the MARBEFES project.
